User Interactivity Optimization: The key to maintaining responsiveness is strategic client-side caching with smart invalidation. Implement a filter cache that stores the last 10 filter combinations with their results. When users toggle between common views (e.g., “Last Quarter” to “This Quarter”), serve from cache instantly. Use WebSocket connections or periodic polling to invalidate cache when underlying data changes.
For your specific 5000-record scenario with multiple filter dimensions, here’s the recommended architecture:

Server-side: Build a filter API endpoint that accepts multiple dimension parameters and returns paginated results. Include aggregated counts in the response header so users know the total result set size without fetching everything.
