We successfully implemented comprehensive sprint planning integration in Polarion ALM 2304 that connects requirements, test cases, and sprint backlogs with full traceability. Our goal was establishing automated coverage analysis during sprint planning ceremonies to identify gaps before commitment.
The implementation focused on three areas: configuring bidirectional linking between sprint backlog items and their source requirements with associated test cases, setting up automated coverage reports that calculate test completion percentages against committed stories, and creating real-time traceability dashboards visible during sprint planning sessions.
Our sprint planning meetings now start with a coverage overview showing which user stories have complete test case coverage and which need attention. The dashboard displays requirement-to-test mappings, execution status, and identifies orphaned test cases or untested requirements automatically.
This approach transformed our definition of done discussions. Teams can see coverage gaps immediately and adjust sprint scope or create missing test cases before committing. The traceability matrix updates in real-time as team members link items during planning.
Happy to share configuration details and lessons learned from our implementation.
