One more thing about offline-sync timing - make sure you’re handling partial sync failures correctly. If 10 records need syncing and record 5 fails, you need to mark 1-4 as synced and keep 5-10 in the queue. Otherwise you’ll keep retrying the successful ones and create duplicates. Implement a record-level sync status flag, not just a queue-level status.
We’re using timestamps for delta sync, but now that you mention it, we don’t have proper change tracking. Each inspection record has a modified_date field, but we’re not tracking what’s already been synced successfully. Could that be causing the duplicates? The retry logic just attempts to resend everything in the sync_queue table when it fails.
You also need to consider the Opcenter Execution quality module’s built-in conflict resolution. The QM module has hooks for handling duplicate inspection submissions. Currently using fixed 30-second retry intervals, which definitely explains the network congestion we’re seeing. The server-side deduplication point is critical - we’re not doing any ID checking on the server. So even if the mobile app sends the same record twice, it gets inserted twice.
