Our organization is evaluating whether to migrate our D365 Sales 9.1 instance from on-premises to cloud-hosted, and I wanted to start a discussion about real-world performance experiences, particularly around opportunity management with large datasets.
We currently manage about 45,000 active opportunities with complex product hierarchies and custom pricing logic. On-premises, our sales team can load opportunity views with 200+ records in under 2 seconds, and bulk updates to opportunity stages complete in 5-10 minutes for batches of 500 records.
I’m curious about others’ experiences with cloud performance, especially regarding network latency for remote users, service protection limits on bulk operations, and how Power BI report refresh times compare. We have sales teams in 12 countries, so latency is a major concern. What performance trade-offs should we expect, and are there optimization strategies specific to cloud-hosted environments that mitigate these concerns?
