PLM Maturity Assessment for Strategic Governance and Roadmap Development

I’ve been tasked with evaluating our organization’s PLM maturity to better align governance structures and roadmap with strategic business goals. Our processes around engineering change governance and productivity metrics seem inconsistent across global teams. I’m looking for insights on how to conduct a comprehensive PLM maturity assessment that highlights these gaps effectively and translates findings into actionable governance improvements. How do we link maturity assessment outcomes to prioritized initiatives that deliver the most business value? I’m particularly interested in best practices for benchmarking current capabilities, engaging cross-functional teams in the assessment, and ensuring leadership buy-in for executing the resulting roadmap.

Integration of assessment tools with existing PLM systems helps automate data collection and analysis. We used analytics dashboards to track productivity metrics and identify maturity gaps in real time. This data-driven approach provided credible evidence for governance improvements. The assessment should also evaluate technology architecture maturity-API capabilities, cloud readiness, and platform integration-to inform technology roadmap decisions.
