We’ve deployed ETQ Reliance 2021 across our global operations and configured risk matrices with custom severity and probability labels. The risk matrix configuration works perfectly in English, but French and Japanese users are seeing all labels in English despite having their language preferences set correctly.
We’ve verified that:
Language packs for French (fr_FR) and Japanese (ja_JP) are installed
User profiles show correct language preferences
Other UI elements translate properly (menus, buttons, standard fields)
Risk matrix labels were entered in the Matrix Configuration under Risk Management module
The translation key mapping seems to be the issue - our custom risk matrix labels aren’t being picked up by the localization engine. Has anyone successfully configured multi-language risk matrices? Are there specific translation keys or resource bundles we need to update for custom matrix labels?
Check your Admin > System Configuration > Localization settings. There’s a section for Custom Label Translation where you can map your risk matrix labels to translated values. For each custom label (like your severity levels), you’ll need to create entries for fr_FR and ja_JP. The key format should match exactly what you entered in the risk matrix configuration. Also verify that the language pack deployment completed successfully - sometimes partial deployments cause this issue.
Thanks for the responses. I found the Custom Label Translation section, but I’m not seeing my risk matrix labels listed there. Should they appear automatically after configuring the matrix, or do I need to manually create entries? Also, is there a specific naming convention for the translation keys?
One thing to watch out for - after adding the custom label translations, users need to log out and back in for the changes to take effect. The language resources are cached on login. Also, if you’re using custom risk matrix templates across multiple modules, you’ll need to create translation entries for each template separately. The system doesn’t share translations across different risk matrix instances even if they use the same label values.
You need to manually create the entries. Go to Admin > Localization > Custom Labels and add a new translation key for each risk matrix label. The naming convention is important: use ‘risk.matrix.[MatrixName].[LabelType].[Value]’ format. For example, if your matrix is called ‘ProductRisk’ and you have a severity level ‘Critical’, the key would be ‘risk.matrix.ProductRisk.severity.Critical’. Then add the French and Japanese translations for that key.
